Instead of showing you “pre-packaged” screenshots and demos provided by Intuit’s Marketing group, we like to show you quickly and precisely the answers to questions we get on a daily basis from our clients. Let’s jump right in and take a look at the three Enterprise subscription levels and what makes them different.
QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions
All of the subscriptions shown below are available in licenses (seats or users) in 1-10 & 30. So in short, you can purchase anywhere from 1- 10 licenses but when you need 11 or more you move to the "30-seat" license regardless of the number you need between 11 and 30.
Note: Enhanced Payroll with an Enterprise Solutions subscription includes unlimited employees.
What is Enhanced Payroll?
In short, if you want to “do it yourself” then Enhanced Payroll could be for you. Instead of Intuit making your tax deposits, filing your tax returns and generating your W2s etc you are responsible for doing it yourself. Intuit provides everything you need to do it, but you do it. If you pay something late or file something wrong it is your responsibility.
The nice thing about the Gold Enterprise subscription is that it includes Enhanced Payroll at no extra charge. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of employees that you can have. For many of our clients, moving to Gold saved them considerable payroll fees because previously they were paying for this payroll subscription separately. Additionally, unlimited employees is not part of Enhanced Payroll unless part of the Enterprise Gold subscription.

QuickBooks Hosting (Working “in the cloud”)
Everyone has a different idea of what the cloud means and how/if to work with it or in it. With QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions you can “Host” your QuickBooks company file(s) with a variety of Hosting providers. Intuit has partnered with Right Networks to accomplish this end and we highly recommend this provider as well.
If your Enterprise data is “hosted” it merely means you connect to the Right Networks data center to access your data. Your company file (sometimes referred to as data file) does not reside in your physical location. It resides in a multi-million dollar data center with state of the art security, encryption and backups. You pay a monthly user fee to use this service but you save thousands on hardware, servers and IT services. This is not something that may happen in the future, it is happening now on a daily basis.
Hosting QuickBooks Enterprise does not mean it is a “browser-based” software like QuickBooks Online. These are two very distinct and completely different products.
To be clear, QuickBooks Enterprise is a Desktop product. If hosted the only difference is where the data resides and how you access it. Enix & Associates has been using this same technology for over ten years. We will never change how we work unless a better solution comes along.
